The Water and Wastewater Committee is responsible to provide
guidance and advice to Council and the Public Works staff regarding the
operations, maintenance and administration of the municipal utilities, including
both water and wastewater systems.
Their responsibilities include, but are not
limited to, the following:
Maintenance and improvements to the existing
utilities
Recommendation for expansion or upgrades to
existing facilities
Identification of the requirement for new
facilities and/or equipment
Management of the Utilities Operating Budget
Recommendations for the Utilities Capital
Budget
Formulating and/or amending the necessary
by-laws relating to utilities
Recommendations to Council for the utility
rates and charges
Membership
Two (2) members of Council. Four (4) residents of
the community. Village Staff, consisting of the Public Works
Supervisor, Public Works Utilities Operator, Chief Administrative
Officer, and a Recording Secretary. Staff members serving on the
committee have a voice but do not have a vote.
All members are approved by the Mayor of the
Village of New Maryland.
Meeting Schedule
The Water and Wastewater Committee holds its
regular monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Meetings commence at 7:00pm and are held in the Council Chamber at
the Village Office, 584 New Maryland Highway.
