Paul E. LeBlanc, Councillor

Paul E. LeBlanc, Councillor

As with so many New Maryland residents, Councillor Paul LeBlanc came to the Village from elsewhere. In this case, the city of Moncton, but New Maryland is definitely “home” to him and his wife Karen. They have a daughter Darci and two sons Derek and Corey.

The LeBlanc’s have been in New Maryland since 1981, and they have seen the community grow into one of the very best places in New Brunswick to live. Because of Paul’s early involvement in local affairs, it was only natural for him to run for office, and be elected, to the first Village Council in 1991.

Before that he was an active member of the New Maryland School Action Committee, a group that successfully lobbied the provincial government to build the New Maryland School. That institution continues to be a great asset.

Councillor LeBlanc is a graduate of both Moncton High School and the New Brunswick Institute of Technology. He has been a Civil Engineering Technologist in the construction industry for over 30 years, and he operates his own local business in that field.

Much of his spare time is spent as chairperson of the Transportation and Protective Services Committee. This is the committee that oversees Village streets, and police and fire protection. He also co-chairs the Water and Waste Water Committee.

During his many years on Council, Paul LeBlanc has chaired the Recreation Committee, the Planning Advisory Committee, and the Finance and Administration Committee. He also is serving currently on the RCMP District 2 Community Policing Committee.

Those commitments leave him with not much spare time, but he and his family still try to keep up their interest in skiing, biking, hiking, and camping. They do make a point of maintaining one important Moncton-area connection, a summer camping spot near beautiful Parlee Beach.
