There are many different programs for any age within New Maryland. You can view the Village sponsored programs, or the Community sponsored programs.

Counsellor in Training
The Recreation & Leisure Services Department offers a Counsellor in Training (CIT) program is a program for youth ages 14-15 years of age that is offered during the summer months (July-August). This program is great opportunity to learn new leaderships and abilities that could assist you in gaining employment in future.  Interested participants must submit an application to the Recreation & Leisure Services Department for consideration by the established deadline. Applications will be screened and the individuals selected to participate in the program will take part in a one day training/orientation session. Following the training CIT’s will sign up to volunteer for a minimum of one week of day camp. During this time CIT’s will help out the day camp leaders and put their new skills to test by leading a game and or an activity during the week. CIT’s will be evaluated and the individuals who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate.


Babysitter Courses
The Recreation & Leisure Services Department offers several Babysitter Courses for youth ages 11 and older.

The next courses are being held:

  • January 7 at Victoria Hall from 9am-4pm. Cost: $45/ each. Fee includes, course book, first aid kit, and certificate. **** Cancelled ****

Tennis Lessons (Summer Only)
The Recreation & Leisure Services Department is pleased to offer Tennis Clinics in early spring each year to introduce residents to the game and the skills of the sport. The Tennis Lessons are offered for youth and adults at either beginner or intermediate levels throughout the summer months by certified instructor(s).

1st New Maryland Scouts (Year Round)
The Mission of Scouting in Canada is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

We offer four programs for youth ages 5-17.

Beaver Scouts (5-7 years old)
Offers exciting activities for girls and boys that focuses on sharing, teamwork, arts and crafts, sports, music, storytelling and the outdoors.

The Beaver Scouts Colony meeting is held Monday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30pm at the New Maryland Centre.

Cub Scouts (8-10 years old)
Girls and boys learn about six activity areas: Home and Community, Canada and the World, The Natural World, Outdoors, Creative Expression, and Healthy Living.

The Cub Scouts meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00pm at Sts. John & Paul church.  

Scouts (11-14 years old)
Helps youth build leadership skills and self-confidence through exciting outdoor activities. Scouts encourages youth to feel good about themselves, their friends and family, and the environment.   

The Scout Troop meets on Mondays from 7-9pm at Faith Baptist Church.

Venturer Scouts (14-17 years old)
Helps teens become good citizens through real life experiences with a big focus on the outdoors, community service, and the natural environment.

The Venturer Scouts Company meets on Mondays from 7-9pm at Faith Baptist Church.

Astronomy Club (Year Round)
Interested in astronomy? Why not check out this club to learn more. Observe and take photos of planets, stars, comets, space stations, shuttles & deep sky objects.  All are welcome. For more information, please go to www.AstroHaM.ca or .


Bonnie Kilburn Dance Classes (September-May)
Bonnie Kilburn offers tap, Jazz, and hip hop classes out of the New Maryland Centre every Thursday night from 5:30pm-9:30pm during the months of September-May. To register and/or for participation costs please call, 462-3260 or 455-7078.


 

New Maryland Guiding (Sept. - June)

New Maryland Guiding - Arbour District is part of the Girl Guides of Canada. Girl Guides is a movement for girls, led by women. It challenges girls to reach their potential and empowers them to give leadership and service as responsible citizens of the world. We welcome girls 5-17+ years and woman over 18 to be part of the following groups:   

Sparks
Ages 5 and 6. Meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm at Sts. John & Paul Church.

Brownies
Ages 7 and 8. Meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7:45pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

Guides
Ages 9 - 11. Meet on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm at Faith United Baptist Church.  

Pathfinders
Ages 12 - 15. Meet on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm at Faith Baptist Church.  

Rangers
Ages 15 - 17+ as junior leaders, cadets, or rangers. Program work may involve working with one of the above noted units.

Adults
Ages 18 + as leaders, mentors, council member, etc.

New Maryland Karate Club (Year Round)  

Classes are held for both Children and Adults. we offer both competitive and recreational classes. The Children's program is for ages 6 to 14. The classes are held twice per week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 7 to 8pm. The Adult program has three classes per week, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8 to 9:30pm and on Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30pm. All classes are held at the New Maryland Elementary School.

New Maryland Minor Baseball (Summer Only)

The New Maryland Minor Baseball offers various divisions:

  • Rally Cap: 4-7 year olds - New Program, click here for information.

  • Rookie: 8-9 year olds

  • Mosquito: 10-11 year olds

  • Peewee: 12-13 year olds

  • Bantam: 14-15 year olds

  • Midget: 16, 17, & 18 year olds

New Maryland Sea Cadets (September - June)

Is a youth program for people between the ages of 12 - 18. The aim of the program is to develop leadership skills, promote physical fitness and good citizenship and make new friends. There is something for everyone at Cadets. Learn new things like sailing, marksmanships, and shipboard terminology. Join the band or drill team! There are even opportunities for travel and summer training all across Canada. There are no costs for registration, uniforms or regular training. New Maryland Soccer (Summer Only)
New Maryland Soccer Association is the only club in New Brunswick that you can play from age 3 to well whenever you want to stop playing. We have age groups covering U4, U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16-18, and one for the older kids 19 and up called Senior Soccer. You can contact us by , or visit our website www.nmsoccer.ca.

Our season runs early June until August, we offer elite Division 1 programs for various age groups. Our elite teams travel to tournaments all over the Maritimes and represent our Village very well. We hope to see you on the field very soon!!


 

 

Youth Ball Hockey Club (September - June)
New Maryland Ball Hockey Club (NMBHC) is a new and growing club offering youth, 10 to 17 years old, an opportunity to play ball hockey in an organized and safe environment. Registered with the New Brunswick Ball Hockey Association the NMBHC meets on Saturday mornings from 9-10am at the Village Tennis Courts, while the weather is good, and at Faith Baptist Church Gym in inclement weather. Cost is $50 per season (based on registration, second season is only $35). All you need is a love of sport, a helmet with face shield, a pair of hockey gloves and, of course, a hockey stick and shoes.
