About the Project

The Village of New Maryland is working on a new project aimed at establishing urban design standards and guidelines to create a more vibrant community core along the New Maryland Highway. Urban design standards and guidelines are development regulations that aim to improve the look, feel and cohesiveness of the community. They help to establish a sense of place and improve safety and comfort for pedestrians and other active transportation users, making for a more vibrant and inviting streetscape. Some examples of what these guidelines will cover include building setbacks and heights, parking lot design, signage, and building materials, among others.

Public Consultation

We want to hear from you! The draft standards and guidelines have been released to the public and now we want to hear what you think. There are multiple opportunities to learn more about the project and to provide your input:

• Open House Presentation + Q&A – Wednesday, May 11th at 6:30pm at the New Maryland Centre, 754 New Maryland Highway
• Online Open House Presentation + Q&A – Tuesday, May 17th, 6:30pm on Zoom

This presentation will be recorded in case you can’t attend and a video will be available to view in the days following the presentation

Public consultation will run until Sunday, June 12th, 2022. Feedback received will directly influence the final documents.
