Coyote and Bear Sightings
April 26, 2019

The Village office has received reports of a coyote sighting this week near Sprucewood Drive and a bear sighting today in the vicinity of Newman/Berkley Streets in Applewood Acres subdivision.

These animals are attracted by food, and anything that smells like food, so please keep all food sources such a bird feeders, garbage cans, barbecues, and pet food stored away in a secure location.  Parents should also remember to keep a close eye on children that are playing near the wooded areas.

The provincial Dept. of Energy and Resource Development has provided information about how to avoid coyotes and bears, and what to do if you encounter them, in the links below:

Please report bear sightings to DNR at 453-2345.  Be aware and be safe!
