The Village Fire Chief would like to remind residents that they MUST obtain a burning permit (at no charge) from New Maryland Fire Dept. BEFORE using outdoor burning appliances (fire pits, chimineas, outdoor fireplaces,etc.). This is in accordance with New Maryland Fire Dept. By-law No. 20, section 12(6). Failure to receive a permit from the Fire Dept. prior to burning could result in a $250 fine.

Burning is NOT PERMITTED any time that the Dept. of Natural Resources prohibits outdoor burning due to extreme fire conditions. In order to determine if burning is permitted in the province at any time, please contact DNR at 1-866-458-8080 or visit http://www2.gnb.ca/…/n…/public_alerts/forest_fire_watch.html
