Coach Gardiner MacDougall

Mayor Judy & Coach MacCoach MacDougall was presented with a certificate during the Formal Council meeting on May 18, 2016 outlining his most recent accomplishment – guiding the V-Reds to the 5th National Championship.

Gardiner MacDougall just finished his 15th season at UNB’s hockey program and oversees one of Canada’s most successful university hockey programs. He holds a Level III NCP Coaching Certification along with CHA Advanced II Hockey Coaching Certification, and is knows for his positive enthusiasm and tremendous work ethic. Gardiner is a keen promoter of community development. UNB’s numerous hockey programs reach over 1,000 young people each year. He is also the co-founder of the elite V-Reds Prospects Program, widely recognized as the top youth development in eastern Canada.

Coach MacDougall is the all-time Atlantic Conference leader in total wins including regular season and play-off victories. He recently guided the V-Reds to their 5th national championship and this 4th as head coach. He has won CIS silver medals in 2004, 2008 and 2015 and has achieved three national titles in 5 years.

The University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds will be inducted into the Maritime Sports Hall of Fame on June 22, 2016.
