A reminder to residents that in accordance with section 7.0 of the Village of New Maryland By-law No. 62-2000 (Use of Streets) “No person shall place on any street, sidewalk or common area any snow or ice brought from any privately owned yard, enclosure or place, into any street, sidewalk or common area without having first obtained permission from the Village office. Any contravention of this regulation will result in a fine being levied, and the snow being removed by the individual who first illegally placed it, or in lieu, being removed by the Village at the expense of the individual(s) having placed it illegally.” A minimum fine of $50 will be issued to those who do not comply with the by-law.
Additionally, the ban on overnight parking on Village streets is in effect from November 1st – March 31st. As per By-law No. 63, vehicles are not permitted to park on Village streets between midnight and 7 am of any day, or leave any vehicle unattended during periods of snowfall, on any street or highway so as to interfere with snow removal operations. Failure to comply with the by-law will result in a $25 fine and vehicles could be towed at the owner’s expense.
