With the new school year starting next Tuesday, September 3rd, members of Village Council, RCMP and our Fire Chief will be participating in the “Team Up to Slow Down” campaign beginning next week. Drivers are reminded that students will be travelling to and from school, and pedestrian, bicycle and bus traffic will increase.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage drivers to obey the posted speed limit while watching carefully for children, particularly near the school. As part of the campaign, Public Works staff will be placing the “Team Up to Slow Down” signs in Village subdivisions over the next two weeks. These signs will help raise awareness about speeding which is an ongoing issue in the Village and prompt drivers to slow their speeds and exercise safer driving practices.
The yellow “Keep It to 40km/h” lawn signs are also available and residents are encouraged to pick one up at the Village office.
