As a result of a planned residential development, the current garden location (off of Crown Avenue) will be temporarily closed for this year and a new garden established in Sunrise Estates Park adjacent to the Park property. Planning for the garden is currently underway; the new location will have the same amenities as the Crown Avenue location (same size plots, water storage, fencing, on-site parking, etc.) Current gardeners will be given “first pick” for a plot then remaining spaces will be assigned.
The current garden has 18 plots; if there is additional interest, we can expand the new garden at the Sunrise location as we do not want to turn anyone away.
Contact Michelle in the Recreation and Leisure Services Department at 458-6094 or send her an e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your plot or learn more about the community garden program.
It is our intent to have the garden available by early to mid-June, weather permitting. Community gardening is a healthy, inexpensive activity for everyone that can bring you closer to nature and allow you to interact with others in a socially, meaningful and physically productive way. You may grow a variety of plants in the garden including vegetables, fruits, herbs or flowers.
