Fire Service Exemplary Service Medal

Wednesday night at the Formal Council meeting Fire Chief Harry Farrell was presented with the Fire Service Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of 30 years of loyal and exemplary service to public safety.

Fire Chief Farrell began his career in 1989 with the Nashwaak Valley Fire Department before coming to New Maryland as our Fire Chief. During Harry’s career, he has been the recipient of previous Fire Services Exemplary Service Medals, has been named Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, and has received many other honors and awards. Regardless of the stature, each award is significant in that it recognizes Harry’s faithful dedication to his career, colleagues, volunteers, and community.

Harry has enormous respect from all of his colleagues and associates in the fire service and is recognized for his passion for his job, commitment to training, devotion to his department, and also his innovative approaches to providing first-class fire protection services to our community and others.
