The Village of New Maryland is seeking applications from residents with interest in serving on the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) when vacancies become available.

The PAC is a quasi-judicial body established under the provisions of the New Brunswick Community Planning Act and is appointed by the Village Council. The role of the PAC is to advise Council on issues related to rezoning applications, subdivisions, and amendments to the Municipal Plan, as well as to consider and make decisions on variances from certain zoning or subdivision by-law requirements.

The PAC consists of six (6) voting members including Village councillors and residents. Members may be appointed for up to a three-year term and may be eligible for re-appointment. To be a member of the PAC, a person must be eligible to vote under the New Brunswick Municipal Elections Act and be a resident of the Village of New Maryland.

Experience in land use planning and/or development is not mandatory but would be considered an asset. The regular meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Village office, with additional meetings as the need arises.

These are volunteer positions. Residents interested in serving on the PAC are asked to complete the requisite form to demonstrate their qualifications and experience. The application form can be found on the Village website at www.vonm.ca. Please submit expressions of interest to the undersigned on or before 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024.
